Lord Coconut

Traisie heels- thanks to Steve Madden
Leather jacket- Sportsgirl (similar here)
Necklace- Diva

Bare legs in Winter- crazy I know, but Melbourne topped 18 degrees last Saturday.
Sun-shiny and fabulous!

So now to something I wanted to share with you!  This week I was fortunate enough to be invited to a couple of events, the first being PeepToe Chadstone grand opening as seen in my last blog post.  The second was something a little bit different, a jewellery making workshop led by local jewellery designer A.l.i. Alexander at Lord Coconut- the destination for quirky and fabulous men's jewellery from over 30 local designers at Flinders Lane in Melbourne.

Each of us were given a piece of blutak to make into a jewellery design of our choice which can then be cast in silver.  Consequently all creative thoughts quickly flew out of my mind and then much to my dismay I knocked my red wine across the table, saturating all the jewellery making tools : /  Despite my efforts of sabotage it was such a fun and interesting night and I highly recommend my fellow Melbournians pay a visit to Lord Coconut.

Curious? Well check out my design along with my fellow bloggers over HERE.
There is also a chance to win one of our designs!

Ziggy Denim

Big Nihon top- thanks to Vamastyle
Wildfox necklace- thanks to The Dark Horse
Cardi- Cotton On (similar here)
Vest- Zara (similar here)
Bracelets - Asos (claw & spikes)
Heels- Asos (exact match here,
or in burgundy here, and blue here)

Well HELLO! It seems that there has been a bit of a hiatus in fresh outfit posts of late and considering that is really what this blog is about I must apologise.  It's good to be back though : )  This is what a wore last weekend for a day trip to the Mornington Hot Springs with a lovely lunch stop at Mornington main street on the way.  We are smack bang in the middle of Winter and despite the sunshine it is still cold, so I layered this Summery silk top with a cardi and heavy utility vest.

These jeans are new in from Melbourne based jean creators Ziggy, available at Glue Store in a lovely array of colours- I have to say they are fantastic! The fit is really great and they sit nicely just below the waist, the denim is so soft too.  And the heels <sigh> you all know I LOVE shoes and these are my new fav, I really like the mix of the white and taupe colours.

And of course, there is still time to enter my giveaway!

WIN a night out at the Crown- Melbourne

My husband and I recently had the pleasure of a night out at The West End at Crownthe brand new destination for dining and entertainment in the heart of Melbourne.

Now here's the tip, check in on arrival at each of the West End venues using The West End iPhone app to access special offers and rewards.  My offers for the night were 20% off all Cocktails at Lumina, and $15 Burger + Pint at The Merrywell. SCORE!

Typically starving after a long day at work we started our night at brand new restaurant The Merrywell.  Its two international chefs have managed to capture the essence of the 'classic pub meal' and reinvent it to gastronomic pub perfection using the best of local seasonal produce.  Walking past the mouth watering burgers downstairs, we headed upstairs to 'The Top of The Merrywell' where we sunk our teeth into a Seafood Tower followed by Soy Honey Rotisserie Duck for myself, and the Grandma Grecco's Chicken Parma for my husband.  Not to forget dessert- Chai Creme Brulee topped with milk chocolate and served in the most fabulous little jar- yum!  All washed down with a lovely red wine which I chose purely based on its name 'The Idiot' : ) Culinary comfort food at its best!

Next stop was the centre point of The West End- Lumia.  The perfect place to indulge in a cocktail or two, check out the action on the adjacent gaming floor, and be mesmerized by the stunning crystal chandelier.  Be sure to sample a signature Shrub cocktail.

Across the way from the Lumia I spotted The Common Room, filled with 12 TV screens it is the place to catch local and international sport action, live performances and comedy acts.

The final venue at The West End worth dropping by is Cotta.  With a great Cafe feel it’s ideal for lunch or that caffeine fix.

My workstation + GIVEAWAY

Today for something a little bit different I thought I would share with you my workstation.  It's essentially an Ikea stainless steal bench in the corner of our lounge room, I normally migrate to the couch with the laptop on my lap though.  Although this is unusually tidy, you can probably tell I love a bit of clutter.  Our home is filled with nick-knacks and our dark grey walls are covered with things we love, great memories, and things that make us smile : )

Recently PersonalPlanner.com.au offered me a planner for myself and one to giveaway to my lovely readers.  Working through the steps on their website I easily created my own custom made personal planner.  I chose the layout, colours, etc and designed mine specially to help me with blog- events, blog posts, drawing giveaways, etc.  It's great to have it permanently open on my bench.

WIN:
A personal planner or notebook of your choice!

Cygnett

The countdown is on the London Olympics and to get us in the mood Cygnett has released a fabulous range of iPhone cases inspired by one of the UK's most iconic symbols and perhaps the most famous metro system in the world- the London Underground.

Of the five designs featured in the official London Underground Series the TubeMap has to be my favourite- looking at all those train lines brings back so many amazing memories from my visit there 2 years ago!  Now I have an embarrassing admission to make... I have an iPhone 3G which doesn't actually fit these delightful cases, trust me I tried to squeeze in BUT I loved the cases so much I just couldn't say no. I think a phone upgrade is just around the corner now ; )

Head to Cygnett.com to find a retailer.  RRP $24.95.

On another note, there is still time to enter my giveaway!

Timberland

Timberland boots- thanks to Natureshop
It is Winter here in Oz and boy is it a cold one here in Melbourne! It doesn't snow here, but regardless these Timberland snow boots from Natureshop are just the thing.  Made of beautiful leather and suede, and lined with cosy fleece, they really are a wonderful Winter boot- snow or no snow.

Speaking of snow, my mind takes me back to a visit to Cradle Mountain in Tassie a couple of Winters ago.  A most beautiful walk around Dove Lake, knee deep in snow, left my toes freezing and my jeans and hiking boots absolutely saturated.  I then attempted to dry my boots by the fireplace and melted them-oops!  So as you can well imagine THESE waterproof boots would have been the perfect choice to keep my feet warm AND dry!!  Now I really do feel like I need to head off to Mt Buller or Falls Creek so I can traipse around in the snow and feel a bit smug about my cosy feet : )

This winter boot features plenty of eco-conscious materials.  The fleece lining is made of 30% recycled plastic bottles (the mind boggles- it really doesn't feel like plastic bottles at all), and the rubber outer sole is made from 42% receycled rubber- perfect for maxiumum traction.

On another note, there is still time to enter my giveaway!

p.s. Did you notice I now have a dot com!! My own domain- very exciting : )

Guest blogger: Chic Chef

Hi everyone!
Today I am so excited to introduce one of my favourite bloggers, Layla of Chic Chef all the way from the US of A!  I absolutely love how Layla wears colour to create such a polished and chic look.  Her outfits are something that I would wear in a heartbeat, in fact I think I might duck over to Asos now to snap up this skirt : )

Top: Nordstrom
Shoes: Enzo
Ring: YSL

One of my favorite color combinations for the summer has to be cobalt blue and white. It reminds me of a summer escape to the Greek islands, and the contrast looks so refreshing. Normally white pencil skirts are not that interesting, but this one from ASOS has the most amazing crochet hem, that makes it a real statement piece (and it's on sale!). I paired it with a cobalt blue top and white pointed heels for a chic summer look.

Also, I have received many emails asking where I get my chain necklaces I wear in my posts. I buy them from DaryaLinks and they just opened a new Etsy store here. They have really reasonable prices, awesome designs, and their chains are not too heavy. I am wearing their "Island Hopper" necklace which is perfect for this look since it has a gold chain layered with cobalt blue lapis lazuli beads. What do you think?

I hope you like the look! And you can "Pin" your favorite pictures using the "Pin It" button on each picture.

xo Layla

June REwind

A month of subdued colours that is for sure!  Blacks, greys and blues paired with bold jewellery seems to be the theme, and don't forget the thermal top hidden in every outfit to keep out the Winter cold! Brrrrrrr!!  Also this month was a fun photoshoot with fellow Melbourne blogger Cecylia, and a new hairdo!

Well we are past the shortest day of the year now, so really it's just on and up from here.  I really am so excited at the thought of Spring already and am getting tempted by gorgeous Summer dresses and pretty sandals.  After spotting this dress on Tuula I couldn't resist, and also have to admit to buying these heels.  Ridiculous I know! Cosy knits would no doubt be a far more sensible option considering we have 2 months of Winter left ; )

Check out my Autumm rewind posts here and here.
And of course please stay tuned- I have more exciting giveaways just around the corner.
